Living in Nova Scotia, the ocean is all around us and part of the lifeblood of the people. Whether you work in the fishing industry or go to the beach in the summer, everybody is influenced by the ocean at some point in their life. Since the ocean covers two thirds of the Earth's surface, its important for us to take care of it for future generations for them to reap its benefits.

For the past year, I have been working on paintings that show the ocean in different colors or shades. Some paintings are inspired by photos, others are inspired by the emotion that the ocean brings out of me on that particular day or week.

L'Océan Atlantique a permis à mes ancêtres de s'établir sur les côtes de la Nouvelle-Écosse. Les peuples autochtones étaient déjà installés sur ce rivage magique quand Champlain et compagnie ont décidé d'y jeter l'ancre.

La Baie de Fundy, mon coin du pays, nous donne les plus hautes marées au monde. C'est toujours fascinant de voir la mer monter et descendre de façon extrême tous les jours. Comme la baie est en mouvement tout le temps, le portrait change toujours aussi, alors il aura toujours de nouvelles photos à prendre et de nouvelles toiles à créer. C'est la magie de l'océan. :)
